Raymond J. Baker, 77, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late William and Marie (Leap) Baker.
Surviving are two sisters, Patricia of Hollidaysburg and Teresa in Delaware; three brothers: Francis in Texas, James in Florida and Joseph of Waynesboro.
Ray was preceded in death by siblings: Edward, John, Philip, Charles, Margaret Hart, and Thomas.
He graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1965 and retired from the U.S.A.F. after 22 years, having served in Guam during the Vietnam era. He then retired from the Hollidaysburg School District after 22 years as a bus driver.
Ray was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council 4245.
He was a life member of St. Michael Catholic Church, where he was a past president of the Men's Club, and served on the Greenlawn Cemetery Board for many years.
Ray enjoyed helping people and building and making repairs.
Friends will be received from noon until 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, where a funeral Mass with full military honors will be celebrated at 1 p.m. with Father Alan E. Thomas, Celebrant.
Private committal at Calvary Cemetery.
