GEORGE F EDMONDS

 

St. Michaels, George Francis Edmonds of St. Michaels, died at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center, Easton, on Monday, July 28, 2014. He was 78.
Born in Baltimore on March 7, 1936 he was the son of the late John and Alice Flaherty Edmonds. Dr. Edmonds attended Catholic School in Baltimore City, following graduation he attended Johns Hopkins University and Walden University where he received his Ph.D. Dr. Edmonds was an English Professor, and also taught Theater Arts at Catonsville Community College for more than 30 years retiring in 1998 at which time he moved to St. Michaels.
Dr. Edmonds was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary; he served as Commander of Coast Guard Flotilla 2004-2005. He loved the theater and was a member of and a Director for the Tred Avon Players of Oxford. In addition he was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Annapolis and attended Sts. Peter & Paul Parish in St. Michaels.
Dr. Edmonds is survived by his beloved wife; Eugenie Ann Edmonds of St. Michaels, a daughter; Aliceann Ceruzzi (Len), a son; George F. Edmonds, Jr. (Corrine) five Grandchildren; Maria Alyce Ceruzzi, Rebecca James Ceruzzi, Anthony Edmonds Ceruzzi, Elena Augustine Edmonds, and Ian Michael Edmonds.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at the St. Michaels Catholic Mission Chapel on Lincoln Ave; Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 12:30PM. A viewing will be held at the Ostrowski Funeral Home 312 S. Talbot Street St. Michaels on Friday evening from 6 to 8PM.
Burial will be in the Oxford cemetery.
