COUNCIL #10370 - ST. JOHN VIANNEY REMEMBERS
JOSEPH BOTTONE

It is with profound sadness and loving memories, that we announce the passing of Joseph Bottone, a devoted husband, cherished friend and beloved father. Joe peacefully departed from this world on Sunday July 14, 2024.

Born on May 28, 1939, in London England, Joe was known for his big heart, unwavering kindness and warm smile. Joe, married his loving wife of 62 years, Jean, in March of 1962. He and Jean, welcomed their first son Paul in 1963 and son Simon in 1965. As a father and grandfather, Joe was compassionate and fun loving. He took great pride in his boys and their families and enjoyed spending time over the years watching how the family grew. His family was one of his greatest joys and he leaves behind a legacy of love and strength.

Joe was not only a loving father, but also a passionate cook. His love of food and the opportunity to share his talents, began when he took a role as a cook with The Royal Airforce (RAF). After immigrating with the family to Montreal, he took a role as a Chef at the “Queens Hotel”. Joe, put his passion aside for a few years after moving to Ontario and working for the Toronto Transit Commission. He soon reconnected with it, when he opened “Cozy Joe’s” in downtown Barrie. He eventually worked at Georgian College, as a teacher of the Culinary Arts Program, imparting his love and knowledge of food to his students.

Outside of his professional life, Joe enjoyed gardening and the opportunity to cook for others. His family, friends and those within his church and the Sandy Cove community, were often the recipients of his culinary talents. Joe also enjoyed traveling to new and different destinations and sharing those travel experiences with both family and friends.

Joe will be dearly missed by his loving wife Eugenie (Jean), his children Paul (Kelly) and Simon (Sally), his grandchildren Sandra (Jesse), Mark (Jacoba), Christine (Mike), Lisa, Michael and Hannah, his greatgrandchildren Gregory, Elizabeth, Anthony, Zachary and countless friends.

Joe taught us the importance of laughter, of cherishing every moment and of spreading love wherever we go. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.

Rest peacefully dear Joe, may you continue to bring laughter and joy wherever your spirit now resides. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.

The family would like to extend many thanks to Joseph’s wonderful family doctor and to all the dedicated medical staff at Michael Garron Hospital and Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for their exceptional care and compassion.

A funeral mass to honor and celebrate Joe's life will be held at St John Vianney Church, on Wednesday July 24, 2024, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation www.heartandstroke.ca or Diabetes Canada www.diabetes.ca .
