ARNOLD VANDEN LANGENBERG

 


Arnold M. Vanden Langenberg, 95, Woodside Manor, Villa 1, formerly of Allouez from 1955-2003, died at a local care facility on Thursday, June 27, 2024. He was born November 6, 1928, in Green Bay, to the late Arnold and Harriet (Smits) Vanden Langenberg.

Arnie attended Green Bay East High School, graduating in 1946. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1951. Arnie married the former Joanne Van Oss on January 11, 1952, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Miami, Florida. She preceded him in death on July 5, 1982. Following Joanne’s death he married Carole (De Moe) Haskins on September 27, 1983, at Resurrection Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on June 6, 2021.

He was employed at Wisconsin Public Service for 37 years. Nine years at the Pulliam Plant and 28 years in the Electrical Distribution Department, retiring in 1988.

Arnie was involved in many activities and organizations throughout his lifetime. Allouez Little League, Cub Scouts Awards Chairman, Allouez Swimming Pool Committee, Allouez Forestry Committee, secretary and Treasurer of De Pere Columbian, Inc. He was a member of De Pere Sportsman Club, Honorary member of Ledgeview Rider’s Horse Club, Vice President Northeastern Wisconsin Pleasure Horse Association and American Legion Sullivan Wallen Post #11. Arnie was a past member B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #259, 75 year member of Knights of Columbus, Council #3955, De Pere and served as the financial secretary for 11 years. Arnie was a life member of the DAV, a 13-gallon blood donor for the Red Cross, a member of the WPS Service Activities Club (formerly Men’s Club) and a member of the American Contract Bridge association, where he held a Bridge Teacher and Director’s Certifications, which he used in furthering the game of Duplicate Bridge at the Aging Resource Center in Green Bay and De Pere Community Center. He was a charter member of Resurrection Parish.

Arnie enjoyed numerous card games, golf, bowling, fishing, boating and keeping an eye on his investments.

He is survived by four children: Michael (Vicky), Sobieski; Douglas, Green Bay; Stephen (Lilia), Oceanside, CA and Gary (Jackie) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; eight grandchildren: Kyle (Emily), Jacob (Becky), Chad (Danielle), Jennifer, Shelly, Trina (Scott), Stephanie (Chris) and Alyssa; three step-children: Mark Haskins, Lori Haskins, both of Cape Coral, FL and Michael Haskins, Green Bay; four step-grandchildren: Kimberly, Kelly, Logan and Brandon; great grandchildren: Piper, Jackson, Addison, Hannah, Easton, Nora, Alma, Luella, Aden, Peter and Penelope; step-great grandchildren, Kayleigh and Kyle; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Myrtle (Donald) Lison; Adele (Orby) Boucher and Jeanette (Robert) DuCharme.

Friends may call at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop, on Tuesday, July 9, from 9:30-11:00 am. K of c final prayer at 10:50 am, Memorial Mass 11:00 at the church with Rev. Tom Reynebeau officiating. Full military honors immediately following Mass. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to Arnie’s family at www.prokowall.com.
