AJ came to Fr Griffin in the summer of 2023 from Camdenton MO. Several Knights helped moved him from central Mo to St Charles to be closer to family.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on May 18 2024 at St Gabreil the Archangel Parish in St Louis.

Albert John “A.J. or Jack” Hoyt, passed away peacefully on April 28th, 2024, at the age of 72 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 12th, 1951, to Leonard and Winifred (Keller) Hoyt. He spent his school years in Milwaukee, later moving to Missouri for college and living there for the rest of his life. In 1984 he married Janis (Seng) Hoyt, and they shared 20 years of marriage and three daughters.

He was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. An active member, he enjoyed calling bingo and working at the Lenten fish fries. His faith was very important to him, as was service to others. He did not know a stranger, and was always the first to lend a helping hand to those in need.

A.J. received a master’s degree in geology and had a passion for rocks. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, and hiking. He was also an avid movie watcher, and especially enjoyed anything strange and unusual. The weirder the better! A.J. was a lifelong football fan, and especially loved the Green Bay Packers and the Camdenton Lakers. You could find him cheering the Lakers on almost every Friday night during the fall.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Lara (Jon) Longo, Alaina (Chesney) Japal, and Katrina (Zach) Stepp, two grandchildren Gabriel and Evelyn, his brother Allen (Janice) Hoyt, and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Irene Hoyt, brother Kenneth Zielinski, and sister Susan Hartman.

A funeral service in his memory will be celebrated on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, 10am, at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in St. Louis, MO. A celebration of life will follow. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Hawkins, Wisconsin, on Saturday, June 29th, 2024, with a memorial lunch to follow.

A.J. had a special place in his heart for animals, and had many beloved pets in his lifetime. Memorial donations in A.J.’s name can be made to The Feral Companion in St. Louis MO. Please visit their website at: www.theferalcompanion.org for more information.

Eternal rest grant to him o Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
