McGee, Arlis John “Mac†, passed away at home Tuesday, August 29, 2023 with his daughter Karen near him. He was born in St. Louis, son of George McGee and Jean McGee (nee Manis). Arlis was a proud Army veteran and also took pride in his Irish heritage. Arlis was a devoted husband to Margaret “Marge†McGee who preceded him in death. He was the beloved father of Karen Hanna, Timothy Patrick (Laura) McGee, Colleen (Timothy) Sparkman, and the late Jean Baker McGee; loving grandfather of Margaret "Meg" Hanna, Emily Hanna, Samuel Hanna, Timothy Sparkman, Nicole Sparkman, Kellie McGee, Monica Baker, and Dillon Baker. Family meant everything to him and he never missed a chance to say he loved us and was thankful for the care we gave him.
Arlis was a faithful worker as a custodian at Monsanto until his retirement and then at St. John’s Mercy after he realized that he wanted to keep working. He never met a stranger and loved talking to whoever he came in contact with. His heart was full of love and kindness for everyone. Arlis always wanted to help people so he donated his eyes for macular degeneration research and his body for medical research. Arlis had a special gift of always being positive and thankful for what he had and everything that he had overcome. He had many friends throughout his life that he would fish with, volunteer with at church, and visit with. Arlis was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, his sisters, and a son-in-law.
