Skoglund Sr., William B. 88, of Aurora passed away on January 30, 2013. He was born on November 17, 1924 the son of Bernard and Maria Skoglund in West Chicago, IL. The family moved to Barrington IL in 1940 and he graduated from Barrington High School in 1943. He served in the army during World War II from 1943-1946. He graduated from Eureka College, in Eureka IL in 1950 where he met and married his beloved wife, Phyllis White, on September 9, 1949. They lived in Peoria, IL until 1958 when the family moved to Aurora, where he was employed at Caterpillar as the Employee and Labor Relation Manager until he retired in 1988. During that period, he also served the community as a member of the Aurora Red Cross, Catholic Social Services Board, Aurora Foundation Scholarship Committee, United Way Chamber of Commerce Committee and serviced 18 years on the original Human Relations Committee at Caterpillar. He currently is a member of Holy Angels Church. He served as an officer in World War II (1943-1946) and the Korean War (1951-1952) where he received the Bronze Star. During retirement he enjoyed golf, traveling, gardening, wood working, remodeling his home, Cubs games, and enjoying his wonderful family. His surviving family includes his wife of 63 years, Phyllis; his three children, Bill Jr. (Angie) Skoglund, Beth Kleren, Matt (Linda) Skoglund; his grandchildren, Andrea (Emerson) Lacey, Chris (Ryan) Graves, Dave Kleren Jr., Laura (Justin) Barker, Joey (Greg) Claussen, Pam Kleren, Erik, Daniel and Megan Skoglund and his four great-grandchildren, Willa, PJ, Emerson Jr. and William. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Marie Skoglund, and his five sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 9:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Holy Angels Church at 10:00 AM, Fr. Bob Jones will officiate. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora. 630-631-5500.
