COUNCIL #945 - OWATONNA REMEMBERS
DELBERT J. HARTLE

Delbert "Del" J. Hartle, 72, passed away August 31, 2023 after a long battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Born, May 3, 1951, in Owatonna, Minnesota Del was the son of Norbert and Bernice Hartle. Del grew up on a farm south of Owatonna with his family and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1969. He then attended a 2-year post-secondary school in Rochester where he met the love of his life, Joyce Marie Nawrocki. On February 8, 1975, they united in marriage and were happily married for 48 years. Over the 48 years together they had lived in many towns throughout Minnesota but moved back to Del's hometown of Owatonna for the last 23 years. Del and Joyce owned 2 successful businesses together: a Sears store in Worthington, MN and Images Plus, a silk-screening business they operated in Fairmont, MN. After returning to Owatonna, Del found his calling. He assisted the wonderful people at Cedar Valley Services in Owatonna who were stationed at Wenger Corp and later at the downtown office. He retired in 2019.
For those lucky enough to know him, Del will always be a positive role model who lived life to the fullest. Del loved people and never met a stranger. You could hear his loud laugh wherever you went. He loved his lawn as much as he loved people. Spending time perfecting his yard, never letting anything get out of place.
Del loved his family. He did anything and everything for them. Del attended all sporting events/practices/dance recitals/concerts/birthday events. When it came to family, there wasn't an event Del would miss. You could always count on him being in the crowd. He had the rare ability to squeeze 30 hours into a 24-hour day and still have energy to do the same thing tomorrow.
Del wants us all to remember to always place God first in your life. Throughout his life Del faced challenges and his unwavering faith always led him through. Del's battle with Lymphoma exemplified this verse from II Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith". Del's faith never wavered. His faith will continue to bring comfort to him and those he has left behind.
Del is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce, their two daughters Angie (Eric) Finholdt and Amber (Michael) Pegg; 4 grandchildren, Ben Finholdt, Zach Finholdt, Avery Pegg and Reagan Pegg; and 1 great-grandchild Colt Finholdt. He is also survived by his siblings: Darrell (Suzanne) Hartle, Gloria Karbo, Audrey (Gary) Oldefendt, LeRoy (Vicky) Hartle, Nordean (Rhonda) Hartle, and sister-in-law Barbara Hartle, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Bernice Hartle, brother David Hartle along with nephews.
