JOSEPH ROSKOWINSKI

 

Mr. Joseph Roskowinski, age 99, of Woodsboro, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

Born July 17, 1923, in Poland, he was the son of the late Walenty and Antonina Sulikowski Roskowinski. He was the loving husband of Maria S. Roskowinski, his wife of 75 years.

He served as a member of the Polish Resistance during World War II and was taken as a prisoner of war by Nazi Germany. He was released following the American liberation of the concentration camp he was imprisoned in.H

Mr. Roskowinski retired after many years in manufacturing management. He was a devoted and faithful member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church of Libertytown and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Polish Army Veterans Association and loved dancing with his wife at association gatherings.

He enjoyed building and “tinkering” with things. He was especially proud of the togetherness of his family. He was a loving and impressive grandfather and made a huge impact on his grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four sons: RiKi Roskowinski and wife Robyn, Roman Roskowinski and wife Linda, Ronny Roskowinski and Robert Roskowinski and wife Karen; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Alfons Roskowinski and wife Anneliese; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings: Olec and Frank Roskowinski, Stefa Napiorkowski and Wanda Olenik.
