Ed was born in Jersey City, NJ, but grew up in Bayonne, NJ. He moved to Illinois in 1963 for professional reasons and put down roots in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

After retiring and wishing to impart his business and educational knowledge, Ed taught at several local colleges for many years. He was well respected by his students and many of them kept in touch with him long after their college classes ended.
Ed felt very strongly about giving back to the community in which he lived and was a member of several Village of Hoffman Estates commissions, including serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals from 1977 to 1992, and serving as the Chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals from 1987 until 1992. In 1992, he was appointed to the Village Board as Trustee and served in that capacity until 2005. He was instrumental in the formation of the Children’s Memorial located at the Hoffman Estates Village Hall and in securing new postal codes specific to Hoffman Estates.
Ed was a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1972 and 1976.
Ed enlisted with the U.S. Air Force to serve in the Korean War and was assigned as a combat reporter where he flew with and wrote articles about the jet pilots and their daily missions. He had the utmost respect for those pilots and for the crews that kept their planes in good working order.
