Ronald B. Littlejohn, age 77, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ron lived in Claymont Delaware. Ron spent his primary years with his family in Philadelphia, PA. He was educated in the Philadelphia public school system. Upon leaving Overbook High School, Ron enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. While in the Navy, Ron earned his Associate and Bachelor's degree. He traveled throughout the United States and many other countries, including, spending many years living in Naples, Italy.
Upon his return to the Philadelphia area, Ron served as the Command Master Chief for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. He retired in 1994 after more than 30-years of military service. Ron loved spending time with his family and friends, riding roller coasters, traveling, reading and caring for his beloved dogs.
He will be remembered for his service to his country, his work with the Knights of Columbus, Fleet Reserve Association, the Overlook Colony community, Claymont Civic Association and senior center.
Ron is survived by his siblings, nieces, nephews, an aunt, cousins, his god-sister, and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Dorothy Littlejohn Barnes, step father, Fred Austin Barnes, siblings, Michael, Robert, Geraldine, Dennis, Anthony, and Karen, and his bonus sister Kathleen Riley Selcovitz.
