Obituary for Peter J Banahoski
Peter Julius Banahoski, 88, of Aurora, Illinois, passed away on March 25, 2023, in Aurora.
Peter "Pete" was the first born to Louis Banahoski and Luella (Harrington) Banahoski on December 7, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard 1952-1955. He served in the United States Air Force 752nd Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron 1958-1960. He married Kathryn Ann Luedeke on September 29, 1961, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He attended Indiana Technical College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He proudly worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 41 years.
Peter was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, an elected Precinct Committeeman and a longtime member of TRIAD and was their Senior of the Year in 2018. He volunteered for Dreyer Clinic Helping Hand volunteer for over 20 years; he also volunteered for Aurora Township Youth Programs. He generously donated to many organizations that served to help others.
Peter had many interests that brought him much joy. He played and coached hockey for the Aurora Hockey Association. Always a sports fan, he particularly enjoyed Indy car racing and his beloved Green Bay Packers. He was a lifelong learner and traveler; he was a Road Scholar and traveled internationally. He learned Polish to travel to his father's homeland.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents Louie and Bonnie; his sisters Mary Jane Banahoski and Patricia Diehl; his brother Daniel; and his wife Kathy.
Peter is survived by his children Diane K. (Banahoski) Beauchamp, Steven J. Banahoski, Susan L. Banahoski, John P. Banahoski and Carolyn L. Banahoski, his son-in-law Kent G. Beauchamp, his grandchildren Jaclyn R. (Beauchamp) Campbell and Rose E. Beauchamp, and his great-grandchildren Nora A. Campbell and Oliver T. Campbell.
The family of Peter wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the many nurses, aids, hospitals and clinics for taking care of him. We also wish to thank the clergy, social workers and staff for brightening up his days.
Memorial service will be held Friday, March 31, 2023 at 12:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St, Aurora IL 60506. 630-631-5500. Memorial visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM until time of service in the funeral home.
