Joseph P. Glass, 83, of Newry, passed away Sunday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert J. and Anna M. (Burket) Glass.
He married Shirley Singel in 1965.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years; a daughter, Donna Smaltz, and husband, Joseph, of York; three sons: John and wife, Cindy, of Hollidaysburg; Tom and wife, Cindy, of Duncansville; and Mike and wife, Chris, of Newry; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, James, in 1968; and two brothers, Roger and Bob.
Joseph graduated from St. Vincent's High School and Vale Tech. He served in the U.S. Army and was co-owner with his brother of R.J. Glass Trucking Co.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council 4245 and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Newry.
Joseph enjoyed fishing and hunting at the Globe Run Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed flea markets, collecting old tools and playing with his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Vigil will be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Allen P. Zeth, Celebrant.
Private committal at Calvary Cemetery.
