Jerome Francis Ring, 87, a veteran of the Korean & Vietnam War and longtime resident of Woodbridge, VA, passed away on December 26, 2022 peacefully at his home.
Jerry, as he was known to many, was born on February 5, 1935, the 3rd of six children to Mary & William Ring in New Britain, CT. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1955 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1975. He went on to receive his Masters in East Asian Studies from Central Connecticut College in 1978. He then began his second career at the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC and retired in 1997.
Jerry was the recipient of the Air Medal w/2OLC, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/1 V device, Meritorious Service Medal and the National Intelligence Medal of Achievement.
In 1958, Jerry met Mary O'Connell in New Haven, CT. They married on October 10, 1959 and went on to have 2 children, Mary Ellen Current and Kathleen Barraco.
Jerry was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Ellen Current, his parents and three siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary, daughter Kathleen Barraco, grandchildren AJ Current (Lauren) of Gastonia, NC; Stephen Barraco (Heather) of Charleston, SC; Mary Martin McGhee (Steven) of Gastonia, NC; Carrie Allen (Jake) of Rome, GA and 5 great-grandchildren Payton, Maggie, Kate, Hattie and Elise. |
