EAMONN J O RIORDAN

Wed 10/09/19

Eamonn Joseph O’Riordan 77, of Suwanee, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. Eamonn was born in Cork, Ireland.

As a boy he served as an altar server and joined the Legion of Mary. His father taught him from a young age to look for the good in others and you’ll find the good in yourself. These were words he lived by. He felt a strong pull to bring the gift of faith to others in the world. He attended a Society of Missionaries to Africa school for one year, but had to leave due to health issues. Soon after he attended St. Patrick’s Seminary in Ireland and was ordained as a Priest in 1967. After his Ordination, Eamonn served at various Parishes in the Savannah Diocese, including a tour as Chaplin at the State Prison in Reidsville before serving as pastor at Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.

More and more, he began to be aware of his faith pulling him in a new direction. With the understanding and support of his Bishop, Eamonn moved to Atlanta and began a new life in 1983. His first task was to find a job, which he did at Progressive Insurance where he spent 30 plus years forming relationships that were professional by nature, but anyone who knew Eamonn understood all relationships were very personal to him.

No one would hold his heart as much as the love he had for his wife and children. Eamonn always had a story to tell about his family and tell he did. He was a member of Saint Benedict Catholic Church of John’s Creek, Ga. He continued to serve the church in various roles over the years in Religious Education, Annulment Coordinator, Lector and as a member of the Knight’s of Columbus just to name a few.

Eamonn was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was intelligent, interesting, generous, and a man of integrity.

Eamonn is predeceased in death by his parent’s Joseph and Kathleen Riordan of Cork, Ireland. Eamonn is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sheryl Stavro O'Riordan. He is survived by his daughters Kathleen O'Riordan (Martin) Howlett of London, England and Caitlin O'Riordan (Ian Rosamilia) of New York, NY. Also survived by two brother’s Tom (Veronica) Riordan of Cork, Ireland, Sean (Siobhan) O'Riordan of Fethard, Ireland, a Sister-in-law Harriet Stavro (Dave Paulk) of Hinesville, Ga, and many, much-loved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
