James "Jimmy" Carey Taylor Sr. passed away peacefully on June 30, 2013, at North Fulton Hospital.
Jimmy born on July 30, 1928, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Atlanta, to Edna Carey Taylor and Henry C. Taylor. He was very active in the various Catholic churches he attended throughout his life, most recently St. Benedict Catholic Church, in John's Creek, where his long life of service continued for over 20 years. He was also a lifetime member of the Atlanta Athletic Club.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Kane Taylor.
He is survived by his children, James Carey Taylor Jr., Jean Marie Taylor-Worford, Gilbert Taylor, Theresa Taylor Southmayd, Gabrielle Taylor Martz, and Timothy Taylor; and grandchildren, Anne Marie Taylor Wade, Anna Carey Taylor, Ashley Martz, James Taylor, Kellli Martz, Jonathan Taylor, Jarrod Martz, Cameron Worford, Emily Taylor, and Lenise Taylor. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Moore, and sisters-in-law, Jane Taylor and Janet Burchfield.
Viewing will take place 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Bill Head Funeral Home, in Duluth.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul St. Benedict Catholic Church.
