Patrick Ruyle Ashby passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday morning, November 29, 2022. He was born March 22, 1948 to James Orbie Ashby and Margaret Pauline (Ruyle) Ashby in Edmond, Oklahoma. He graduated from Mount St. Mary's Catholic High School, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1966. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1970, followed by two years of School of Law at the University of Oklahoma.
Pat married the love of his life, Cathie Sue Avery, on November 6, 1976, and they enjoyed 46 years together. They were blessed with their son, Tyler Ruyle in 1978 and with their daughter, Erryn Renae in 1980. He enjoyed a rewarding career in the oil and pipeline industry, retiring in 2016. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edmond, Oklahoma and regularly attended weekly men's bible study and mass. He enjoyed playing the piano, composing music, being a member of Mitch Park YMCA, fishing, and researching family genealogy. He loved and cherished time with his family and faithfully attended his grandchildren's sporting events, plays, recitals, and all extracurricular activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents Orbie and Margaret Ashby; his father-in-law, Virgil John Avery; and mother-in-law, Billie Rose Avery; fur babies, Cheerio and Chico.
He is survived by his wife, Cathie and fur baby, Chachi of the home; son Tyler Ashby and wife Stephanie of Jones, Oklahoma; daughter Erryn and husband Chris Gray of Edmond, Oklahoma; brother Mike Ashby and wife Carole of Oklahoma City; sister Ramona Ann Rider of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandchildren Cayman Stone and Kendall Faith Ashby, Brinley Rose, Calin Daniel and Landrey Cate Gray. |
