Charles A. Baker, 79, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care. He was born in Altoona, son of the late William J. and Marie M. (Leap) Baker. Surviving are two sisters: Patricia M. of Hollidaysburg and Teresa L. in Delaware; five brothers: Francis J. in Texas, James W. in Florida, Thomas G., and Raymond J., both of Hollidaysburg, and Joseph M. of Waynesboro; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings: Margaret Hart, Edward R., John F. and Philip J. Charlie graduated from Hollidaysburg High School 1962 and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He enjoyed working for the Slinky Corp. and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Hollidaysburg. He enjoyed placing flags on veterans' graves at local cemeteries. Charlie was a 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council 4245. He also enjoyed walking around town and carrying newspapers until his health failed. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, where a funeral Mass will immediately follow at 12 noon, with Father Alan E. Thomas, Celebrant. Private committal at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg.
