Alberie Saucier passed away peacefully at his home, on October 17, 2022. He was 101 years old. He was born on May 6, 1921, in New Canada Plantation, Maine. Alberie was the loving son of Alfred (Fred) Saucier and Emma Theriault Saucier. He was predeceased by Laurette (Fourneir) Saucier, his wife of 76 years.
Al and Laurette had five children, Diane Saucier Chamberland was their first. She passed away in 2005 and has been missed ever since. They are survived by four sons, Clifford and his wife Susan of Southington, Eldon and his wife Carolyn of Nipomo, CA, Mark and his wife Lori-Jo of Plantsville, and Kenneth and his wife Debra of Bristol. Al and Laurette were most proud of their seventeen grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren.
Alberie was the third child of 9 and the last surviving member. He was predeceased by his brothers Wilfred Saucier, Wilmer Saucier, Richard Saucier of Fort Kent, ME and Norman Saucier of Southington; sisters Alfreda Pelletier of Stacyville, ME, Patricia Saucier of New Canada Plantation, ME, Exella Saucier Pelletier of Southington and Mona Pinette of Wallagrass, ME.
Al was raised on the family farm and developed a strong work ethic. During World War II he joined the Army and served in the European theater. After the war he worked as a heavy equipment operator. In 1954 he moved his young family to CT, where steady work was more accessible. He worked in construction for many years. Ambitious and hardworking, in the mid-sixties, he started building houses “part timeâ€. Eventually he built homes full time. Always honest and fair with customers he had a very good reputation. Once he retired, he was always looking for something to do. He would help his family with any project and maintained his lawn and large garden will into his 90’s.
His funeral will be held on Monday, October 24th at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
