EDWARD W VANIEL

 

Edward W. Vaniel, 85, of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones Tuesday. He was born in McKeesport, son of the late Walter and Helen (Novak) Vaniel.

He married the love of his life, Phyllis Kray, in 1957.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years; a daughter, Diane Wilt (Doug) of Roaring Spring; a son, Bruce Vaniel (Elizabeth) of Duncansville; three granddaughters: Monica Logan (David), Tekyra Closson (Shawn) and Samantha Wilt; five great-grandchildren: Livia, Ellayna, Kaitlyn, Adisen and Kolten; and a sister, Dorothy.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and William.

Edward graduated from McKeesport High School in 1954. That same year he enlisted in the U.S. Airforce, where he was a flight engineer. Edward joined Banker's Life and Casualty Co. in 1960 and served as an agent for over 41 years. He was recognized as "Agent of the Year" three times and received many commendations within the company.

Ed was an avid golfer, loved Penn State football and enjoyed traveling the world with Phyllis.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, with Father Alan E. Thomas, Celebrant.

Committal at New St. Mary Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg.
