Bob passed away peacefully on August 21, 2022, in the comfort of his own home among family. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on October 26, 1934, to Charles Joseph English and Mary Josephine Hamberry. Bob was preceded in death by Charles and Mary Jo. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Judith Hart English, their beloved children, Robert Christopher English, Jr. (Dawn), Joseph Hart English (Karen), Michael Timothy English (Karen), Ellen English Witt (Daniel), and Colleen English Balderson (Allen), his eleven grandchildren whom he adored, and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sibling, Jim English, whom Bob loved dearly. Bob grew up in St. Matthews and spent his childhood immersed in playing multiple sports both on school teams and with neighborhood friends. He attended Holy Spirit Grade School and graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1952. He received his undergraduate degree from Bellarmine University in 1956 and then served in the U.S. Army where he earned the rank of Specialist 4th Class in two years and was stationed at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Bob returned to Louisville after his military service, where he met his beloved wife of 62 years, Judith Hart English. They were married on June 25th, 1960, at Holy Spirit Church and soon after began his most important and cherished endeavor his family. He graduated from Brandeis School of Law in 1964 and began a prolific career in both real estate law and real estate development. Among many of the positions that he served, he was President of Old Kentucky Real Estate Investments Trust for 14 years, Mayor of City of Hurstbourne for 10 years, and Director Jefferson County League of Cities for 9 years. He founded Cherokee Title Co. and English Law Group and ran both for 39 years. Bob was a friend of Bill's for over 50 years. Bob loved both golf and law, and practiced both until he physically could do neither. But he practiced his faith more than anything else. He was a devout Catholic, with family and faith always coming first. Bob was deeply in love with Judy throughout his entire life, and believed in his children, their spouses, and grandchildren with all his heart. A man known for kindness and generosity, he extended his love to everyone he met. Bob was always laughing and smiling, and the last smile across his face was when thinking about meeting Jesus. Visitation will be on Friday, the 26th of August from 3 8 p.m. at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, the 27th at 12 Noon from his parish church, St. Margaret Mary, 7813 Shelbyville Road.
