Rev. David Vincent Dwyer.NEWPORT NEWS - Rev. Mr. David Vincent Dwyer, 63, of Newport News, VA died October 26th 2014. The son of Dr. Donald and Karyl Dwyer, and husband of Susan Ellen Peterson Dwyer, passed away at his home in Newport News, VA after suffering with brain cancer. He is survived by his wife Sue, and his children four children: Karen, Beth, Jennie and Patrick. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Courtney, Raquel and Raven and one great grandson, Tyler, all living in Newport News. Dave worked as an estimator for building contractor WM Jordan until his retirement in 2013. He was ordained as a Catholic Deacon on October 19, 2013, and served at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel with great joy. Very committed to the development of faith community for those with intellectual disabilities, he started two SPRED (Special Religious Development) groups and a board of directors to oversee the work of SPRED in the Diocese of Richmond, VA. He loved automobiles and Indy Car racing and golf. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Immediately following at 7:00, a Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to OLMC, with memo entered as: SPRED, 100 Harpersville Rd., Newport News, VA 23601.
