MILTON PAUL MULLOWNEY

 

M. Paul Mullowney, 86, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Kearney, died March 14, 2019 at his home in Mesa, AZ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney. Father Paul Colling will celebrate. Inurnment will follow at the Kearney Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #52, VFW Post #759 in conjunction with the Offutt Air Force Base Honors Team. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, April 15th at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home, followed by a 7:00 p.m. Vigil/Prayer Service.

M. Paul Mullowney was born on November 27, 1932 in Omaha to Vance E. and Mary E. (Lustis) Mullowney. He attended Kearney high school and graduated with the class of 1951. Paul worked in machine repair for Riverside until his retirement in 1991.

In 1951, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. He took great pride in his service with United States Air Force and proudly belonged to the American Legion and other service organizations for over 50 years.

On January 18, 1958, Paul was united in marriage to Carol A. Stout in Whittier, California and to this union three children were born: George, Catherine and Patricia. Carol preceded Paul in death on March 16, 2002. Paul was a long-time Nebraska resident, but moved to Arizona to be closer to family.

Paul was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Paul will be remembered by family and friends as a loving father, husband, brother and companion.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, George E. Mullowney of Alma; daughters, Catherine Clarich and her husband, Michael and Patricia L. Sweet and her husband, Dallas, both of Gilbert, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Father Tom E. Mullowney of Kearney; along with his dear friend and long time companion, Louise Matson of Kearney; as well as several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his parents; and two brothers, Jim and Bob Mullowney; and sister, Joanne Nickel.
