March 1, 1948 – December 19, 2021

Edward Walter Warzywak, 73, of Dumfries, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on December 19, 2021, after a brief illness.

Born in Detroit, Michigan on March 1, 1948, he was the only child of Walter Skrantny and Josephine Zywica and the oldest (adopted) of five children of Edward and Irene Warzywak. Edward graduated from Warren Woods High School in 1967 and attended Eastern Michigan University, earning an associate’s degree in Business. He served in the United States Air Force between 1969 – 1973, serving in multiple overseas locations during the Vietnam War.

Following his military career, Ed dedicated what was an extraordinary life to public service, joining the United States Secret Service in 1973, serving during the presidencies of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, William Clinton, and George W. Bush. Ed retired in 2003 as a Lieutenant with the Uniformed Division and spent an active retirement serving the community with the Lions Club of Woodbridge (serving two years as President), the Knights of Columbus Council #9285 of Manassas, and the covenants committee of his homeowner’s association.

Ed enjoyed celebrating his Catholic faith, reading, golfing, college and professional football and spending time with his beloved wife Janie. He loved vacationing at Myrtle Beach and cherished his “beach time” with his sons Tom and Nicholas and grandsons Edward, Mason, and Lucas.

Ed leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, E. Janie Warzywak; their children, Thomas John and Nicholas James Warzywak); and three grandchildren, Edward Michael, Mason James and Lucas Pierce Warzywak. Ed is also survived by a brother (adoptive), Gary Warzywak and his sisters (adoptive), Celeste Siress, Denise Corona, and Sandra O’Leary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Josephine, and Edward and Irene (adoptive).

Visitation will be held at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home of Dale City, VA (703-680-1234) on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

A requiem Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Lake Ridge, VA (703-494-4008) on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11:00 am, with reception to follow.
