JOSEPH CLYDE HESSON

 

Joseph Clyde Hesson, 80, of Georgetown, Texas passed away in Round Rock, Texas, on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 after a lengthy illness and hospitalization. Joseph was born at home in rural Lawrence County, Ohio. He graduated from Chesapeake High School in 1958. He then attended Ohio State University. He married Peggy L. Comstock December 17th, 1960 in Chesapeake, Ohio. He graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia in 1967 with a B.S. degree in Chemistry. He spent the next 44 years working in manufacturing management and consulting and lived in eight states before retiring in 2001. He became an active member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, where he served as an Usher, Lector, Perpetual Adoration Captain, Vice-chairman of the Pastoral Council, member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Chairman of the Pastoral Planning Committee. He also served as a Rector, Speaker, and Table Leader for Christian Experience Weekends. He served in the Knights of Columbus (4th degree) as the Grand Knight, Chancellor, Trustee, and the Vice-President and President of the Austin Area KOC chapter.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Erwin Hesson, his father, Walter Scott Hesson, his brother, Charles Walter Hesson, his sister, Nancy Hesson Beatrice, and his son, Drew Alan Hesson. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Comstock Hesson, his son Eric J. Hesson of Houston, TX, his daughter Rebecca Hesson Smith and son-in-law Timothy M. Smith of Georgetown, TX, his son Aaron S. Hesson of Georgetown, TX, his sister Delores Hesson Armistead of West Palm Beach, FL, and his grandchildren Justin Hutto of College Station, TX, Hope A. Smith of Georgetown, TX, Maximilian Hesson of Georgetown, TX, Lucas Wallace-Hesson of Magnolia, TX, and Benjamin Hesson of Georgetown, TX.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. A rosary and prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2700 E. University Avenue in Georgetown. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Georgetown.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Chapter #2784 of the Knights of Columbus at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, TX.
