Mark Gordon Sarbacker, 55, of Fredericksburg died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at his residence.
Mark was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and spent his childhood in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Mark graduated from Lasher High School and was a true "Lasher Knight." He attended Western Michigan University and obtained a bachelor's degree in public administration. He then moved to Virginia and attended Georgetown University, receiving a degree as a legal assistant. Mark then attended George Mason University and received a degree in accounting and then attended NOVA and earned an associate degree in nursing. He spent his nursing career working at Mary Washington Hospital and Health South.
Mark was known for his great personality and contagious smile. He gave 100 percent to whatever he endeavored.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Sarbacker; his children, Christopher Gallo and Stephanie Gallo; his stepchildren, Henry, Angela and Carmen; his parents, Donald Sarbacker and Sandra Lee Jones; his sister, Ann Simmons, and her husband, Paul; his 10 stepgrandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
There will be a rosary service at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, followed by a Knights of Columbus service, and then the family will receive friends until 8 p.m.
