Kenneth Bernard Schmitz, 77, of Fredericksburg died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at home.Survivors include his wife, Elaine M. Schmitz; four sons, Joseph J. Schmitz and wife Antoinette, Robert J. Schmitz and wife Anastasia, Michael J. Schmitz and wife Erin, and David J. Schmitz; brother, Merle Schmitz; sister, Elaine Warnke; and eight grandchildren, Robert J. Schmitz Jr., Benjamin Schmitz, Kyle Schmitz, Colin Schmitz, Jessica Schmitz, Tyler Schmitz, Kailyn Schmitz and Ryan Schmitz.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Tuesday, July 22 at Covenant Funeral Service, FredericksburgA mass of Christian celebration will be held at 11am Wednesday, July 23 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be held at 11am Thursday, July 24 at Quantico National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Kenneth Schmitz may be directed to support the Hackerman-Patz Pavilion at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.
