SYDNOR R BILLINGSLEY

 

Sydnor Russell Billingsley, 94, of Spotsylvania County passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, of natural causes at Mary Washington Hospital.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1919; he was 94 years of age. Sydnor was a lifelong resident of Fredericksburg and the son of Cecil A. Billingsley and Clementine T. Billingsley.

Sydnor, along with his wife, Lucille F. Billingsley, owned and operated Billingsley Printing and Engraving, which they grew from a single printing press in their basement to one of Fredericksburg's foundation businesses. They sold the business in 1972. After selling the print shop, Sydnor worked as the printer for the city of Fredericksburg until his retirement. He was a parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a proud lifetime member and oldest active member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 875. He was also a longtime member of the Cavalier Club. He graduated from James Monroe High School.
