EDWARD R BOOS

 

On Thursday April 20, 2017, Edward Robert Boos, 95, of Stafford County, Virginia, formerly of Yonkers, New York, passed away at home, peacefully in his sleep, in the presence of his loving wife of over 68 years.

Edward was born on October 31, 1921 in Cologne, Germany, the only son of Robert and Magdalene Boos.

Edward married his true love and best friend Theresa Secret on October 31, 1948. Together they were blessed with the joy of three adoring children and seven amazing grandchildren.

Edward was a veteran of the United States Army and served in WWII.
He was a devout Catholic and very active parishioner, and also a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus.

Edward was a hardworking owner and operator of Getty Oil Full Service Stations and an expert in the automotive mechanical industry. He proudly shared his knowledge and passion with his youngest son, Michael.

Edward was a drummer in a 3 piece jazz band and he enjoyed ballroom dancing and playing tennis. He was the ‘king of the cruise line’ and amassed over 100 cruises with his wife by his side.

At the age of 71 he was frequently seen at his son Christopher’s restaurant, lending a hand and mingling with customers, whereupon he acquired the nickname “Fast Eddie”.

Following his retirement, his NY style driving techniques came in handy while chauffering his daughter Patricia’s children around metropolitan Washington DC for many years.

He is survived by his devoted wife Theresa, daughter Patricia McAndrews (James McAndrews III), son Christopher (Karen Boos), and son Michael (Kimberly Rothwell), grandchildren James IV, Kyle, Lucas, Monica, and Theresa McAndrews and Hudson and Jacqueline Boos.

A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 9:30am followed by a Memorial Service at 10:30am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel located at 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22407.

Burial will be held at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
