DANIEL M SCHAEFER

 

Schaefer, Daniel Malcolm 28, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his home. He was born May 13, 1986 in Aurora, IL. Daniel was a faithful member of Holy Angels Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Bellarmine Council 4849 (3rd degree Knight), Boy Scouts of America, and the Eagle Scouts. He was a Dean's List graduate of Benedictine University with a bachelor's degree in Music Performance. A talented instructor and musician, Daniel was a principle percussionist and drum set player. He performed with the Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra, Holy Angels Choir , Benedictine University Band, Benedictine Jazz Eagles, College of DuPage Percussion Ensemble, and the Wind Symphony of Northern Illinois University. While Daniel had been in numerous bands and musical ensembles, he had recently taken up working on his first solo album, a folk-rock creation inspired by nature and his relationship with God. Daniel was known for his giving heart and volunteered regularly for Meals on Wheels, Hesed House, and the Holy Angels Food Pantry. He frequently visited neighbors, the sick, and the elderly serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Daniel is survived by his parents, James and Lorna (Campbell) Schaefer; two sisters, Jane Storm, Carolyn Schaefer; three brothers, Thomas Schaefer, Eric (Kim) Schaefer, Sean Schaefer; six nieces and nephews, Rachel, Caitlin (Ryan), Autumn, Alicia, Joshua, Tiffany; six great-nieces and nephews; two aunts, Christine (Dennis) Zavisowski, Lynn (Desmond) King; an uncle, John Schaefer; his maternal grandmother, Dorine Campbell. Daniel was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Malcolm Campbell and his paternal grandparents, Annette and Eric P. Schaefer. Funeral service will be Friday, September 5, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, to Holy Angels at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Michael Lavan will officiate with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
