James A. Manders, 90, De Pere, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 6, 2021. He was born on February 5, 1931 to the late Joseph and Eileen Manders. Jim graduated from Nicolet High School in West De Pere and then studied for two years at St. Norbert College. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from December 1951 to December 1953.

Jim’s career started when he joined his father in the plumbing business. He owned and ran Manders Plumbing until his retirement. He was very active in many community programs. He held the title of Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, he was a past President of the De Pere Police & Fire Commission and very faithful, founding member of St. Joseph Parish and Our Lady of Lourdes. This West De Pere boy married the East De Pere girl, Doris Linsmier, the love of his life, on February 13, 1954. They went on to have 5 children.

Their biggest joy was attending events and activities for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They also spent winters skiing, summers at their cottage (The Barn) and vacationing at Orange Lake Resort in Florida.

He is survived by his children; John (Cindy) Manders, Bill (Janean) Manders, Joe (Vicki) Manders, Ann (Craig) Suring, and Bob (Cheryl) Manders and 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren with three more on the way. He is further survived by sisters, Mary (Don) Schleis, Kaye (Larry) Van Alstine, Jeanne (Tom) Chopin, Jodi (Gene) Gibbons, and sister-in-law Rita Van Laanen. He also left behind nieces, nephews and friends.

After 63 years of marriage, Jim was proceded in death by Doris in May 2018. He was also proceded in death by Doris’s family members: Norbert (Lola) Linsmier, Harold (Geneva) Linsmier and Helen (Joseph) Lenss.

Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, in De Pere, from 9:00-11:00AM Saturday, May 8, 2021. The Mass of Christian Burial will start at 11:00AM with Fr. Peter Ambting O.Praem officiating. Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family.
