Sidney P East, 90, of Fannett, died Friday, August 15, 2014. He was born on June 8, 1924, in Mauriceville, and had been a long time resident of the Fannett area. He was a World War II Navy veteran and was a retired operator with Jefferson County, Precinct 3.
Sidney is survived by his children, Carolyn Johnson and Peggy Enea of Fannett; Shyrell Frazier and her husband, Dennis, of Hamshire; Darryl East of Fannett; Royce East of Hemphill; and Melissa East of Fannett; grandchildren, Steve Racca, Stacy Jones, Woody Trahan, Jr.; Monica Blackmore, Natalie Neace, Amber McEvoy, Clay Frazier, Rachel Tate, and Tiffany Holmes; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great children; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Ruth East; four brothers; three sisters.
Sidney was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed sitting in the front of his shop with his buddy’s reminiscing.
A gathering of Mr. East’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with his Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview cemetery, Winnie.
