CARL JOKERST

 

Carl Andrew Jokerst June 1, 1911 to September 5, 2005 Carl lived a full 94 years, active until the age of 90. He will be remembered for his energy, quick smile and willingness to help others. He was an active Catholic his entire life. In Tucson he belonged to St. Francis Cabrini and St. Pius X. He was an active volunteer and member of the Knights of Columbus for 51 years and 4th degree since 1981. He was talented in wood working, from fine furniture to garden decorations. He loved to travel, fish, dance, and be with people. Carl was born in Waco, NB to Charles and Mary Magdelena (Schilly) Jokerst. He was the second child of 11. He attended Kearney State College. He was employed by Wilson Meat Company for 32 years in four states. He moved to Tucson in 1960. Carl was married to Ann McEvoy for 49 years until her death in 1986. Their children are Mary Ann (Thomas) Carlson of Tucson, AZ, Dr. James (Diane) Jokerst of Greeley, CO, John (Kathy) Jokerst of Columbus, NB, and Dennis (Genie) Jokerst of El Cajon, CA. He has ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In 1987, Carl married Margaret Clifford. They were married 14 years until her death in 2001. The family increased with four daughters, Letty Tidwell, Annie (Jim) Chumbler, Kathy (Jim) Derenney, Neita (John) Bridges; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Carl was an asset to this world. He was a man of strict morals and deep faith. His many talents, beliefs, and ways of life will continue in the lives of his family.
