Connell F. Maguire, 86, formerly of Allentown, died Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in the home of his daughter, Eileen in Hendersonville, TN. He was the husband of Deborah Ann (Gleason) Maguire to whom he was married 60 years. Born in Darby, Delaware County, January 17, 1934, Connell was the son of the late Connell F. Maguire, Sr. and Mary (Doherty) Maguire. He was an Archmere Academy ‘52 graduate. He was a 1956 graduate of St. Joseph University, with a B.S. in Physics. For 10 years they were adopted by their Egypt neighbors where he was fire truck #4 driver. He loved fireman especially the volunteers and taught Hydraulics in several counties. He worked for the Navy Department, Bureau of Aeronautics, in Philadelphia for 3 years and then former Western Electric, in Allentown, for 29 years. He taught Hydraulics for several years at NACC, and Bethlehem Vo-Tech. Connell was employed at Rexroth Corp. in Bethlehem for 9 years before retiring in 1999. Connell was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield, and the Knights of Columbus Council # 10921. Additionally, he was a member of the Black Diamond Society of Model Engineers, Bethlehem and the National Railway Historical Society. Connell held various public safety positions in Whitehall Township and South Whitehall Township for many years. He enjoyed 57 years in Lehigh County. |
