DOUGLAS PELIKAN

Beloved husband of Jeanine R. Pelikan (nee Bubash); loving son of the late Rev. Harry and Roberta (nee Beltz) Pelikan; dear brother of Ralph (Mary) Pelikan, June (Charles) Winslow and the late Roberta Hopper. Our dearest brother, brother in law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend.

Born October 13, 1938 he grew up in Kirkwood, MO. He played position of pitcher in Khoury League baseball as well as at Eugene Coyle High School. Earning his BS and MA degrees from St. Louis University and Washington University, Douglas worked as an Industrial Engineer, retiring from Boeing Aircraft Company..

He enjoyed WWII films, westerns, history, current events, and sports. He was a fanatic fan of the Cardiac Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams. He definitely cheered the Stanley Cup winning St. Louis BLUES. Above all else he loved to go fishing. Doug was fun, sometimes loud and boisterous, entertaining and loved by all who knew him.

He was a devout Catholic serving God with humility and charity. He was a member of the White House Jesuit Retreat League for more than 30 years, and he was a 4th Degree Knight in the St. Louis Assembly Knights of Columbus and Father Griffin Council 3586.

Douglas often stated that his purpose in life was to love, cherish, and care for Jeanine his devoted wife of 53 years.

Memorial mass at Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church will be celebrated on Friday, October 9, 2020 at 10:00 am. Inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery.
