Father Harry P. Jewison, 93, of Rochester, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019. He joined the Knights of Columbus on June 1, 1944 and became a Fourth Degree Knight on January 1, 1959.
He was born on Feb. 27, 1926, in Janesville, the seventh of nine children to Arthur and Kathryn Jewison. He attended country school in Waseca County, graduating in 1944 from Janesville High School. After graduation, he served in the Army in WWII. After the service He attended St. Thomas University in St. Paul. He later transferred to St. Mary's University as a seminarian, graduating from St. Mary's in 1950. He attended The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., for his theology studies. Fr. Jewison was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Edward A. Fitzgerald in 1954. During his time he served at numerous parishes in addition he served on the Presbyterial Council of the diocese and the College of Consultors to the Bishop. Fr. Jewison joined the ranks of the Senior Priests in 1994, filling in for priests where needed. He is survived by one sister, his caregiver, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
