COUNCIL #10762 - ST. PIUS X REMEMBERS
DAVID D ARENS

God's Army of Angels is so much the stronger with the arrival of David Dennis Arens who passed from his earthly life in the wee hours of the morning on April 13th, 2020. Loving Grandpa and father, he was a generous, well-mannered, kind hearted man who never had a bad word to say about anyone.

Born December 11, 1933, to Reynold and Hilda (Vaske) Arens and raised in Dyersville, IA, he served a short time in the US Army.
He married Janet Catherine Hense in Dubuque IA in 1955.

Dave spent a long career with IBM, starting before computers, when it was adding machines and type writers.

After retiring from IBM Tucson, he began a second career in gems and jewelry, creating chains and jewelry, as well as manufacturing chain making tools and selling them to customers around the globe.

For his whole life he quietly but actively volunteered for his community. He was with Optimist International clubs for over 50 years, Boy Scouts of America, Knights of Columbus, and Habitat for Humanity.
After losing Janet, his beloved wife of over 50 years, Dave devoted himself to volunteering and serving his community, most especially those less fortunate.
He was especially active with the Tucson Pueblo Optimists, the St Pius X Knights of Columbus, and the Tucson Community Foodbank where he usually volunteered up to 5 days a week.

Dave worked hard, was an excellent provider to be counted on, not only by his family but also his community, he was a faithful Christian believer and member of his parish community and he will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, and his brother, William (Bill) Henry Arens.
He is survived by his son Steve Arens (Andrea), daughter Denise Arens, grandchildren Michelle Arens Griffy (Chris), Ted Current, and Vivian Current, and sweet great grand daughter Evelyn Janet Griffy.
