PAYNE, Gerard Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of April 11, 2006, Master Chief Gerard Thomas Payne, United States Navy (Ret), husband of Adrienne Dede Amaturo Payne. Residence, Goose Creek, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Thomas Payne are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial of the former in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Tuesday afternoon, April 18, 2006 at four o'clock with military honors. The Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will be private. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL, Monday afternoon, April 17, 2006 from five until seven o'clock where a Rosary Service will be recited at seven o'clock.

Mr. Payne was born May 9, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late William J. Payne and the late Dorothy Smith Payne. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a graduate of Southern Illinois University. Mr. Payne was a retired Navy Veteran of twenty-one and one half years and was a recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fleet Reserve, and was a member of the City Zoning Board of Goose Creek. Surviving are his wife of Goose Creek; a daughter, Christine Heidi Butts and her husband Greg of Hanahan, SC; two sons, Michael J. Payne and his wife Eileen of Ladson, SC; Brian J. Payne and his wife Kelly of Columbia, SC. Mr. Payne is also survived by two grandchildren, Austin M. Butts and Morelli Ann Payne; and two step- grandchildren, Erin Treuil and Kelsey Treuil.
