BENJAMIN ROTTIER

 

Benjamin (Ben) Francis Rottier, 81, De Pere, passed away after a short illness at a local hospital, and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Ben was the first-born son of the late William and Mary (Turriff) Rottier. Ben grew up on his family farm in rural West De Pere with his five siblings. Ben attended St. Boniface Grade School and graduated from Nicolet High School in West De Pere. Ben married the late Mary Jane (Liebergen) Rottier on August 5, 1961 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenleaf. Ben and Mary Jane lived in DePere their entire 40 years of married life together. Ben served his country in the United States Army, and after being Honorably discharged, Ben began working for Morning Glory Dairy in De Pere for 40 plus years. Ben was a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Lawrence Fire Department for 21 years, and drove bus for Lamers in his retirement. He enjoyed playing cards and telling stories and spending time up north, with friends and family.

Ben is survived by his special friend Terry Kitslaar (and her family), and his four children; Gary (special friend, Sue Boyea) Rottier, Terry (Lynne) Rottier, Karen (Anthony) Bloom, and Charles (Tricia) Rottier; seven grandchildren – Mark, Michael, Abby, and Colin Rottier, Garrett (Emily), Benjamin, and Genessa (Shujahat) Bloom; and two great-grandchildren Henry and Lily Bloom (with one more on the way). Ben is further survived by three brothers; David (Bonnie) Rottier, John (Sue) Rottier, and Greg (Joyce) Rottier, and two sisters; Mary Ellen Smith and Lois (Pat) Burns. Also, Ben is survived by Mary Jane’s siblings Gordy (Bonnie) Liebergen, Anna Schmidt, and Theresa Rozmarenowski; along with many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Mary Jane, his brother-in-laws; Dudley Smith, Melvin Liebergen, Earl Schmidt, Ray Rozmarenowski, sister-in-law Carol Liebergen.

Friends and family may call on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, 1305 Lourdes Ave, De Pere, from 4:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at church with Fr. Peter Ambting, O.Praem officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care of De Pere, is assisting the family. The Rottier family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to Terry Kitslaar, and the caregivers at St. Vincent Hospital, especially Dr. Karla Roth.
