OSCAR "O. D." DALLE

 

Oscar “O.D.” Dalle, of Owatonna, MN, died on Dec. 11, 2019 peacefully surrounded by family at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Owatonna, presided by Rev. John Sauer. Friends may greet the family on Monday Dec. 16, 2019 from 4 – 7 pm at Brick – Meger Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral mass at church starting at 9:00 AM. The Owatonna Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 7:00 pm at the funeral home on Monday. Burial with Military Rites will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Born Oscar George Dalle in Clifton Township, rural Marshall, MN on January 18, 1939 the son of Gaston and Anna (Sinave) Dalle. Oscar graduated from Minneota High School. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota in Agricultural Economics.

He was united in marriage to Sylvia Vizenor on October 14, 1961 at Our Lady of Victory in Minneapolis, MN. Shortly after O.D. enlisted in the Army serving from 1961 – 1964 and was honorably discharged as a SP4 E-4. The couple made their home in Minneapolis before moving to Owatonna. O.D. worked for the Owatonna Canning Company for over 40 years and retired as the Director of Operations, a career of dedicated service to the company that O.D loved. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Owatonna Knights of Columbus Council #945.



O.D is survived by his loving wife, of 58 years, Sylvia; children, Julie (Bruce) Nasser of Maplewood, MN, John Dalle of El Centro, CA, Kim (Rick) Degen of Owatonna, Kathy (Jon) Ballou of Alexandria, MN; grandchildren, Anthony, Alex, Danika, Annamarie, Taelynn, Samantha, Jack, Katina, Josh, Emma, Jonathon, Kalia; siblings, Bertha Bottelberghe, Leona McDougall, Andrew Dalle, LaMonde Dalle, as well as many nieces and nephews.

O.D. is preceded in death by Albert Dalle, Hector Dalle, Louis Dalle, George Dalle Jr., Martha Dalle and Maggie Maserek. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the volunteers and staff at the Homestead Hospice House for their special care of O.D. during his stay.
