DIETRICH, Joseph Francis November 18, 1934 - September 21, 2017
Peacefully at Montfort hospital, Joe passed into timeless life after a lengthy illness. He was 82. Beloved husband of Sandra. Proud and loving father to Anne (Nathan Bragg) and Matthew (Lesley Lackner). He is also survived by his sisters Pat Mogan, Dianne and Susan, sister-in-law Janet, and many nieces and nephews. Joe was a chaplain, a teacher, a counselor and a proud farmer. He entered the novitiate at the age of 17, was ordained as a member of the congregation of St Basil and left the priesthood in 1968. He taught high school in Sudbury, Windsor, Toronto, and Houston, Texas. Joe married Sandra in 1971. He was an addictions counselor at Donwood Institute in Toronto and the founder of Rideauwood Institute in Ottawa. He was a police chaplain for many years. He loved the farm and cherished the land until the day he died. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Trinite Catholic Church (2178 Laurier St, Rockland, Ontario) on Tuesday, September 26 at 12:00 noon). Lunch will follow at St Andrews Christian Church Hall (739 St. Jean street, Rockland) immediately following the Mass.
