DAVID DEAN FRERICH

 

David D. Frerich, (87) Batavia (formerly of Aurora) passed away October 17, 2019. He was born Jan. 25, 1932 in Santiago, MN, the son of William and Beatta (Blood) Frerich.

David graduated from St. Cloud State University, MN with B.S. and M.S. degrees and did post graduate study at The University of Northern Colorado, Greely.

He was a teacher, principal, and supervisor for over 40 years in MN, MT, and IL (31 years in IL including East Aurora, College of DuPage, and Aurora University). After retirement in 1993, he was employed as a photographer/customer service representative for Life-touch Photography.

In the community, David served as Cubmaster-Pack 392, Assistant Scoutmaster-Troop 92, Board of Director's Optimist Club and Golden K Kiwanis Club. Through the Golden Kiwanis, he enjoyed volunteer work with the Dreyer Clinics Helping Hands Program (15 yrs) and the Heartland Blood Drive Program (14 yrs). At Annunciation Parish, he served as Lector, Parish Council Board, VIP, Eucharist Minister, Usher, Resurrection Choir, President of the Holy Name Society and Charter Member, Honorary Lifetime Member and Grand Knight of KC Council 4849.

Mr. Frerich served his country as Personnel Sgt. Major with the 71st AAA Missile Battalion, Ft. Belvoir, VA during the Korean Conflict. In May 2016, he was recognized and honored for his service with a trip to Washington DC. He was a member of Aurora American Legion Post 84.

Predeceased are his parents, four brothers, Roland, Eugene, Willis, and Arlin and four sisters Rose Ann Armstrong, Shirley Lewandowski, Carol Wendland, and Sylvia Stoner.

Celebrating his memory is his wife of 61 years, Lois; two daughters Cathy Brolley, Elburn; and Kristi (Jay) Grams, Elburn; two sons Joe, Batavia; and John (Cathie), Batavia; eight grandchildren Megan (Alfonso) Gamboa and Nicole Hanlon, Alyssa and Kerrie Brolley, and Adam, Sarah, Emily, and Abby Grams; two great grandchildren Isaiah and Gabriel Gamboa; three brothers Harold (Barbara) MN, Roy (Mary) MN, Frank (Ila Dean) NE and two sisters Dorothy Newman MN and Stella (Jon) Schwartzwald MT, plus many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

Celebration of Life arrangements are being handled by The Daleiden Mortuary, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora. The family will receive guests on Monday, October 28th at Annunciation Church, 1820 Church Rd., Aurora from 11:00 AM until the time of the Mass at 12:00 PM. Father Patrick Gillmeyer will officiate. Military honors will be bestowed at the gravesite following the Celebration of Life Service. Visitation will continue at Gaslight Manor (luncheon) following the church services.

Pallbearers are three nieces Barb High (CA), Rhonda Paulson (WI), and Dianna Broda (MN) and two nephews Steve Broda (NE), and Mitch Lewandowski (MI) assisted by his granddaughter Megan Gamboa (IL) and his grandson Adam Grams (IL).
