LYNN D. ARTZ

 

Lynn D. Artz, 65, of Kearney, passed away on March 8, 2019 at his home in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. The Rev. Father Joe Hannappel will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the church followed by a 7:00 pm Vigil/Prayers Service. Interment will be at Alma Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Kearney Knights of Columbus Council #1728 or Kearney Catholic High School Foundation. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.

Lynn Doyle Artz was born on August 20, 1953 in Holdrege to Dean and Bonita (Kreutz) Artz. He received his education from Alma High School graduating with the class of 1971. He received his bachelor’s degree from UNK and later went on to earn a degree in Medical Technology. He completed his internship at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln before returning to Kearney to work for Good Samaritan Hospital for 31 years. Following his time at Good Sam, he also worked for Fremont Hospital, Holdrege Clinic and the Red Cloud Hospital. He retired in 2012.

Lynn was united in marriage to Dee Czuba on January 4, 1997 in Alma.

Lynn enjoyed photography, attending Watchman and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dee Artz of Kearney; daughters, Holly Blume and her husband, Zach of Lincoln, Nicole Hasselbalch and her fiancé, Shannon of Lincoln, and Kristie Artz-Dorn and her husband, Jerod of Kearney; son, Nick Artz and his wife, Stephanie of Buford, GA; grandchildren, Wesley and Corbin Artz, Sydney, Kar‛mel, Jazmine and Shay Hasselbalch, Tyler Artz and Fletcher Dorn; sisters, Carol Pearson and her husband, Jimmy of Amarillo, TX and Julie Hanson of Barrington, IL; sisters-in-law, Darlene Elston of Omaha, Mary Cook and her husband, Larry of Fremont, and Phyllis Barg and her husband, Keith of Norfolk; along with many other relatives and friends.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Joann Kozak; and brother-in-law, Larry Elston.
