Vincent Gondry
January 16, 1935 - February 27, 2019

Vincent Arthur Gondry, 84, passed away at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.
He was born January 16, 1935, in Danville, Ill., to Arthur Gondry and Ernestine (Blair) Gondry of Tilton, Ill.
In 1953, he graduated from Danville High School, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
On November 29, 1958, Vince married Wanda Ann Chrostowski of Westville. Together they had four children.
He worked at Hyster in Danville, and was a union painter at the University of Illinois. He also had worked at the first Steak-N-Shake in Danville. Over the years, he owned and operated several companies including Designer Homes, Vincent Construction, Vincent Apartments, Westville Muffler Shop and was a partner in Town and Country Construction. He was a pillar in his community.
Vince had great compassion for others, and it wasn't unusual for him to give a family a place to live or job in their time of need. He was an active member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He thoroughly enjoyed mushroom hunting, fast cars, truck pulling and 4x4 hill climbing.
Vince enjoyed the adventure of life and he will be greatly missed by all.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Wanda, are his daughters, Angela Gondry of Westville and Pamela (Don) Gondry-Howard of Lebanon, Ind.; his son, Vincent Gondry Jr. of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; sister-in-law, Christine (David) Christian of Westville; grandchildren, Danny (Candace) Hardesty Jr., Dustin (Kristen) Hardesty, Brandon Gondry, Brittany (Eric) Brouner, Michael Heath and Devon Gondry; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Elisha and Dylan. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Gondry, and grandson, Brian Duez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 231 N. State St., Westville, with Father Timothy Sauppe officiating. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Westville, 414 S. State St., with a Rosary service at 12:30 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Westville.
