DAVE FANDEL

 

David Michael Fandel passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Methodist Hosptial in Rochester. Mass of Christian Burial is set for Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna. Friends may greet the family on Thursday, January 31, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the Brick - Meger Funeral Home and one hour before funeral liturgy on Friday at the church. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 7 pm at the funeral home on Thursday.

Dave was born on November 15, 1949 in Sherburn MN, the son of Francis and Phyliss (Crawford) Fandel. He attended high school at Garrigan in Algona, IA and graduated from the class of 1967. Dave went on to college in Nebraska where he graduated in 1969. After graduating he moved to Minneapolis where he met the love of his life Jan Boese, they were united in marriage on February 12th, 1971. They moved to Owatonna, MN where Dave started selling cars for Leinenkugel’s, most recently he sold homes for Berkshire Hathaway.

Dave was very involved with the community. He gave much of his time to many different organizations throughout the community. He was an active a member of Elks, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, a superintendent of inside concessions with the Steele County Fair, and a former President of the Sertoma Club. Dave loved to shoot trap, hunt, bowl, BBQ and watch football. But his true passion was fishing with sons, grandson, & friends.

Dave is survived by his loving wife Jan (Boese) Fandel, daughter Tracy (Lance) Granquist, son Brandon (Natalie). His mother Phyliss (Crawford) Fandel. Siblings Linda (Curt) Vaudt of Whittemore IA, Dale (Sue) Fandel of Tega Cay SC, Rox Krieps of Sexton IA, Norm (Tammie) Fandel of Jefferson IA, Mark Fandel of Milan MI, Jan (Mike) Capesius of Lu Verne IA, and Phillip (Wanda) Fandel of Bowie, TX, his grandchildren that he treasured, Abbie Granquist, Logan Granquist, Claire Fandel, Kate Fandel and Harrison David Fandel. 20 nieces and nephews and 36 great nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in Death by a Sister Diane Fandel, his Father Francis.
