William A. Tyrka, age 82, of Macungie passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at home. He was the husband of Carol A. (Bender) Tyrka for 25 years last June. Born in Jersey City, NJ he was a son of the late William and Anna (Faber) Tyrka.
He was a self-employed roofing contractor in the Lehigh Valley for many years. Prior to that he was in roofing sales. Bill was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Orefield where he was the custodian for the last 5 years prior to his illness. He was also as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors: wife, Carol, daughters, Karen Axt and Susan Klingman both of Northampton, and Maryanne Majercak and husband Michael of Whitehall; sons, Kurt Axt and wife Kathy of Roanoke, VA, Steven Axt and wife Kelly of Acworth, GA, Michael Axt and wife Sandra of New Tripoli, and William Tyrka, Jr. of Leesport; step daughters, Carla Moyer and husband Patrick of Concord, NC, Cheryl Rishcoff and husband Michael of Allentown, 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Services: Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, January18, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield, PA 18069. Visitation at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., Fogelsville.
