JOHN "JACK" O'BRIEN JR.

 

John (Jack) P. O'Brien, Jr. was born on July 1, 1930 in Chicago to John and Katherine (nee Gilmore) O'Brien. He died Sunday, December 23, 2018 in Lindenhurst.

Mr. O'Brien served in the United States Marine Corps, during the Korean Conflict. He worked in sales for Chattem Labs in Chattanooga, TN. He was a member of St. Mary Parish in Buffalo Grove and was also a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Seton Assembly. Jack worked for the National Bus Company, in Wheeling, for over 20 years. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Chicago White Sox Fan. John loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was loved by all.

John is survived by his spouse of 67 years, Mary Jean (nee Lanas); sons, John P. O'Brien, III and Dennis (Mary) O'Brien; grandchildren, Kathryn (John) Colfer, Dr. Kevin (Dr. Alejandra) O'Brien, Matthew O'Brien and Daniel (Sarah) O'Brien; great-granddaughters, Charlotte Colfer and Lucia O'Brien; sister, Peggy Connolly; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sr. Mary Kay O'Brien BVM.

Visitation Friday, December 28, 2018 from 9:00 am until 11:15 Prayers at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004 proceeding to St. Mary Parish, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 for a 12:00 pm Funeral Mass. Interment at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville.
