E. CHARLES ST ANDRE

 

OPELOUSAS - Charles St. Andre, age 81, was born August 10, 1937 in Lake Charles, LA. He lived in Monroeville, PA from 1969 to 2005 then returned home in Louisiana in 2006 and settled in Opelousas, LA. He passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018.

Charles "Saint" loved life and those around him. He put his "All" into everything he did and was the Pillar, the Historian, the Genealogist and Patriarch of the St. Andre Family. Charles was a very kind, gentle and giving man. He served 12 years in the Army stationed in Korea and served in the Vietnam War. He worked over 20 years at the United Postal Service and was a life-time member of The Knights of Columbus, active until March of 2005. He will be greatly missed.

Charles leaves behind his wife, Mimey St. Andre of Opelousas, LA; his previous wife, Betty St. Andrew of Pittsburgh, PA and 4 of their 5 children, Darryl St. Andrew (deceased), Annette Vickers, Leslie St. Andrew-Smith, Edward St. Andrew, Jr. and Erick Boyd-St. Andrew of Long Beach, CA; five grandchildren, Marissa Smith, Sierra Smith, Lauren Smith, Dominique Vickers and Danielle Vickers. He also leaves 2 of 7 siblings, Muriel Hardeman of Dallas, TX, Patricia Chase of Los Angeles, CA, Isabella Jackson, Dorothy Dozier, Brenda Narcisse, Edwin St. Andre, Jr. and Larry Gene St. Andrew (all deceased); 5 step-children, 11 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great grandchildren of California, Bay Area and host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff at OGH who provided much care and to OFWC and our neighbors for all of your support and prayers. A memorial service will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:30 PM.
