t Col Alan E. Soefje, USAF, (Ret) of San Antonio, Texas died on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the age of 76. Alan Soefje had a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Texas A & M University, a Masters Degree in Communications from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary's University Law School. He was a longtime member of the 433rd Air Lift Wing as a command pilot and a communications consultant. He also had a second retirement from public education as a teacher in high schools and colleges. He was active in community affairs such as Boy Scouts, Lions Club, Military Order of World Wars, Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Reserve Officers Association, Precinct Chairman, etc. He was a member of St. Padre Pio Catholic Church where he was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus member and an Alhambra member. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lois Soefje; one son, Edward Alan Soefje and his wife, Erica; and his six grandchildren: Megan, Renae, Richard, Joe Anthony, Emily, and Edward Martin Soefje. He is also survived by 5 sisters, Esther Bloodworth, Hazel Allen, Elva Wenzel, Mary Lou Eastman, and Carol Hermes and their families.
