Bob Cler
July 30, 1942 - October 20, 2018

Bob Cler, 76, of Catlin, passed away Saturday evening, October 20, 2018, at Champaign Urbana Nursing and Rehab, Savoy.
He was born July 30, 1942, in Monticello, a son of Joe and Dude (Butler) Cler.
He married Roseann Irvin on Aug. 3, 1963, in Penfield. She preceded him in death Dec. 9, 2014.
He is survived by two children, Rod (Sara Sutter) of Davenport, Iowa, and Nicole (Dan) Meyer of St. Louis; two brothers, Mike (Ann) Cler of Philo and Terry (Cindy) Cler of Gifford; three sisters, Dixie (Jerry) Christian of Tolono, Pat (Bud) Bussard of Urbana and Pam Cler of Savoy; and four grandchildren, Whitman, Beckett, Waker and Barratt.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob graduated from the General Motors Institute in 1965. He retired from General Motors after 30 years as a mechanical engineer. He also was a member of the American Foundary Society, serving as past president. He then managed the Knights of Columbus in Danville. He spent many wonderful hours riding on his Harley-Davidson. He was a 4th degree Knight with the K of C's in Danville.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Penfield. Fr. Michael Menner will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul. A rosary will be said at 3:45 p.m.
